COVID-19 School place allocation update

20th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Our schools are closing to the majority of children from Monday 23rd March for an indefinite period. We are only admitting children to our schools and nursery if they are:

- children who have education, health and care plans
- children who have a social worker
- children of “key workers

Schools are closing to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and to do that, we have to be strict about admitting children. We have been working hard on this all day, starting with the children whose parents emailed closure@whiptonbarton.org to tell us that their children were in one of the above groups and who wanted them to come to school. Most of our work today has been about establishing who actually works in what the government calls “a critical sector”.

We will have made our decision on what children will be allowed in from Monday by the end of the day today (it could be later this evening). The decision will come to you by email. If you do not receive an email, we are assuming that your child will not be in and that you are taking responsibility for their education.

I will continue to update you on developments in what is a changing and unsettling time.
