Nominated Safeguarding Governor

I was born and brought up in Exeter before following a career in primary teaching in London and then returning to teach in Exeter.

I have two grown up children who, after travelling afar, have both returned to live and work in Devon which means I am very lucky to see my grandchildren and children regularly.

Later in my teaching career I joined the staff at Exeter College teaching across a wide range of courses and age ranges. My last 15 years of working in the college was at leadership level as the Student Services manager for the college. In my varied role I managed the college nursery provision alongside all things “student” including leading on Child Protection and safeguarding. In this role I was the FE lead in Devon and sat on the Local safeguarding Board.

I have recently Chaired the Local Governing body at Cranbrook Education Campus and thoroughly enjoyed the role. I look forward to providing support and challenge in my role on the Whipton Barton Local Governing body.

Sarah Robinson

Governor

I became a governor for Whipton Barton Federation in June 2021, soon after my husband and I moved into Whipton to lead the local parish church, St Boniface. We love Whipton and want to see the children and families here thriving. I have a background in primary school teaching and so really wanted to support Whipton Barton Federation.

Catriona Elton

Parent Governor

I am a parent governor at Whipton Barton. I work in the public sector as a Data Protection Manager, ensuring that data is kept safe and used legally. I am the link governor for Data and Curriculum.

I very much enjoy being a governor, and making a contribution, along with so many others, to the ongoing success of the Federation.

Kerra Maddern

Co-Opted Governor

Kerra lives locally and is a former education journalist. She currently works as a press officer at the University of Exeter.

Philip Bostock

Trustee

Philip Bostock OBE

Vice Chair of the Ted Wragg Trust

Philip was Chief Executive of Exeter City Council for 16 years until his retirement in 2013. He joined Exeter College as a governor in 2010 and served as Chair of the college’s Board of Governors between 2013 and 2017. Philip joined the Ted Wragg Trust in 2017.

Philip chairs the Trust’s Growth & Development Committee

Aimee Mitchell

Trust Staff Governor

Tim Rutherford

Deputy CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust

Tim Rutherford is Deputy CEO of the Ted Wragg Trust, established in 2010 with the aim of creating an outstanding educational experience for all of Exeter’s children no matter what their background or aptitudes. Since 2010 the Trust has grown to 11 Schools and is responsible for over 7000 children aged 2 – 16.

He has previously been Headteacher of St James School Exeter, where he saw the School achieve its best ever results in 2016 and grow to be oversubscribed. More recently he has been Headteacher at West Exe School, which has seen rapid school improvement since becoming a sponsored academy in January 2017 and is now recognised as one of the highest performing Schools in Devon.

Tim enjoys working with other Schools to support them in planning for the future, including restructures, recruitment and succession planning. He is currently coaching and mentoring a number of new Headteachers in the region.

Siobhan Meredith

Director of Education

Now the Director of Education at the Ted Wragg Trust, Siobhan Meredith became headteacher of Marine Academy primary school at the age of just 27. The school was in a deprived area of Plymouth, and is judged to be ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted again in 2022.

Mrs Meredith, who was brought up by her grandparents, knew she wanted to be a teacher at the age of 14 and has experience from every leadership level and been an integral part of the success the Ted Wragg Trust has achieved.
