Sports premium funding was introduced to give all young people the opportunity to have access to experiences that help them to lead a healthy, active life. Physical activity can improve mental wellbeing and self-esteem and can also lower anxiety and depression, not to mention the numerous physical health benefits.
Children should have 60 minutes of physical activity per day with half of this being recommended to take place in school. The PE and Sport Premium funding helps primary schools to provide opportunities to achieve this goal.
